Dr James Walcott is a General Surgeon with subspecialty training in upper gastrointestinal, hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) and liver transplant surgery.

Following six years of post-fellowship training, including 18 months at St James’s Hospital in Leeds in the United Kingdom, Dr Walcott worked as a Consultant HPB and Liver Transplant Surgeon at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane from 2023 to 2024. He also has extensive experience in emergency general surgery and trauma, including work as a locum General Surgeon in remote and rural Australia.

Dr Walcott performs open and minimally invasive surgery of the stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas and small bowel for benign and malignant conditions. He also has expertise in open and minimally invasive hernia surgery, including complex abdominal wall reconstruction.

He is fully credentialed through the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) to perform upper endoscopy, colonoscopy and ERCP.

Dr Walcott welcomes referrals for elective and urgent general surgical, HPB and endoscopic assessment and is happy to discuss cases directly with referring clinicians.
