We welcome referrals for elective and urgent general surgical, upper GI, HPB, hernia and endoscopic assessment.
General surgery
Hernias, gallbladder disease, small bowel conditions and other general surgical problems.
Upper GI & HPB
Oesophageal, gastric, pancreatic, liver and biliary disease, including surgical oncology.
Endoscopy
Upper endoscopy, colonoscopy and ERCP. Dr James Walcott is GESA credentialed for these procedures.
Urgent referrals
We prioritise urgent referrals and can usually arrange specialist assessment — and, where clinically appropriate, surgery — within 7 days.
Please send urgent referrals by fax (preferred) to (02) 8079 6829, clearly marked URGENT.
Please include the patient’s contact details, relevant clinical history, the reason for urgency, and any available investigation reports.
Dr James Walcott welcomes urgent general surgical, upper GI, HPB and endoscopic referrals and is happy to discuss cases directly with referring clinicians.
Patients requiring immediate emergency assessment or treatment should be directed to the nearest Emergency Department rather than awaiting an outpatient appointment.
Referral information
Please include the clinical question, relevant comorbidities and medication list, prior operative history, pathology, radiology reports and — where possible — access details for the actual imaging.
