Professor Peter Cosman is a general surgeon with particular expertise in upper gastrointestinal and pancreatic surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, hernia surgery, surgical oncology, gastrointestinal endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery.
After qualifying in Arts and Medicine at the University of Sydney, Professor Cosman undertook surgical training at Westmead Hospital and completed a PhD through the University of Sydney. He obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2005 before further training in upper gastrointestinal and pancreatic surgery.
He has been in specialist practice since 2007 and has extensive experience treating conditions involving the oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver and biliary system, as well as reflux, hiatus hernia, abdominal wall hernia and other general surgical problems.
Alongside clinical practice, Professor Cosman has been active in research and teaching, with interests including gastrointestinal cancer, patient safety, human factors and surgical education.
